Orange Tea Cake
Teacakes originated in Britain and were served, as the name implies, with afternoon tea. Even though they're called cakes, tea cakes are old-fashioned cookies made with butter, sugar, eggs, flour, and vanilla.
Ingredients:
- Sieve maida with baking powder, baking soda & keep aside.
- Butter the baking tin, and keep aside.
- Preheat the oven to 160°c.
- In a bowl take butter, egg whites and add sugar to it & beat it for 2min, then add the orange juice & mix well.
- Then add orange zest, vanilla essence and mix it nicely, then add sieved maida mixture make a batter.
- Pour the batter into a baking tin, then bake it in a preheated oven for 45min over 160°c. Coil should be on both sides & place the tin on the lower rack.
- Check the cake once after 40min, by inserting a toothpick, if it comes out clean remove it from the oven & cool it for at least 3 hours before slicing it.
- Enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.
