Sabudana Khichadi
Sabudana Khichadi (Sago)
Sabudana khichdi is an Indian dish made of tapioca pearls(sago), potatoes, peanuts, and herbs. It is hugely popular in India as fasting food. Sabudana or tapioca pearls are widely used in Indian cuisine to make sabudana vada, sabudana kheer, and this khichdi.
Ingredients
- 1/4 kilo sabudana (sago).
- 1/4 cup peanuts.
- 4 green chili
- 5 pieces curry leaves
- 1 spoon mustard seeds
- 1 spoon cumin seeds
- 2 spoon sugar.
- 1 spoon salt.
- 1 medium-size potato.
- Oil
- Soak Sabudana in water for 1 hour then remove water and keep sabudana overnight with little water in it.
Process
- Soak Sabudana in water for 1 hour then remove water and keep sabudana overnight with little water in it.
- Roast the peanuts for some time.
- Then make a fine powder of those roasted peanuts.
- Take a Kadai put sufficient oil (like 3-4 Spoons) add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chillis, peanut powder, and pieces of potatoes.
- Fry all this mixture till potatoes turn Brown.
- Then remove the water from the Sabudana(Sago) and add it to the mixture.
- Add sugar and Salt
- Stir for some time check for salt and sugar.
- Sabudana Khichadi is ready.
- Serve with sweet curd (add sugar in curd)
- Eat the khichadi before it gets cold.
